Information for artists
We receive artists' programme proposals on a daily basis. Some of these fit neatly into the artistic plan for the Organization, others don't meet our expectations. This page is to help you prepare your proposal and present it in the most effective way.
Presenting your programme
If you have never before performed in the Festival Oude Muziek or during the concert season, please send us a message to art [at] oudemuziek.nl first, and if we ask you to, a demo (cd or dvd only), a biography and one or more programme proposals. Our address is:
Organisatie Oude Muziek
Programmering
Postbus 19267
3501 DG Utrecht
The Netherlands
It is impossible to reply to every proposal in detail. Please direct queries about programming to art [at] oudemuziek.nl.
Performing in the Fringe
You can now apply to play in the Utrecht (and Bruges!) fringe. Please fill out this
application form
, deadline 1 April 2012.
Deadlines
Usually, the concert season is put together over 18 months before publication of the season brochure (May). This means we can only accept proposals received before the summer of the previous year.
The Festival is getting shape 2 years in advance. However, it is mostly wise to present your plans well ahead. The selection of fringe concerts is done much later. We welcome your proposals until 1 March of the same year.
Thematic programming
Concerts in the Festival Oude Muziek are selected along the lines of one or more themes. The plans until 2013 are outlined as follows, but, as always, liable to chance.
2012: Sweelinck to Bach
An (early) Baroque arc from Sweelinck, via the German states, to Bach. The full richness of the period will be key. The programme is virtually completed.
2013: Treaty of Utrecht
Currently, the concert season is not thematic.
You are discouraged to present:
- 19th century repertoire performed on modern instruments
- concerts in period costumes
- folk(lore)
- concerts that have already been performed in the Netherlands
- concerts by amateur groups
